An outstanding feature of LWIR systems is their excellent suitability for a wide range of applications and fire classes. Conventional detectors monitor the products of a fire, such as gas, flames or smoke, which can vary greatly depending on the class of fire. These detectors are expected to specify which type of anticipated fire they are for. LWIR surveillance, however, monitors the cause of every fire: unusual heat development. That makes this technology universally deployable, regardless of the type of overheating expected. ARTUS systems can also be used to monitor other temperature-sensitive processes, such as the monitoring of refrigeration equipment.
